How to automatically add a Teams link to booked meetings
Teams links are generated when an Outlook event is created as an "online meeting" with Teams as the provider. IntoCal does exactly that when a guest books: it calls Microsoft Graph with isOnlineMeeting enabled and the teamsForBusiness provider, then reads back the join URL and puts it in every notification.
This is the same mechanism Outlook uses when you click "Teams meeting" yourself, so the result is indistinguishable from a meeting you created manually.
Requirements
- A Microsoft 365 work or school account with a Teams licence (Business Basic or higher, or an Education/Enterprise plan).
- Personal Outlook.com accounts cannot generate Teams for Business meetings; use a work account, or choose IntoCal Meet or Zoom as location instead.
- If your tenant restricts third-party app consent, an admin may need to approve IntoCal once.
IntoCal vs Microsoft Bookings for Teams meetings
Both tools create Teams links. The difference is everything around the link: IntoCal offers personal booking pages, one-line website embeds, Google and Outlook calendar conflict checks, team round-robin, paid bookings with Stripe, an API and AI bookings via MCP. Microsoft Bookings is limited to Microsoft 365 and has a fixed page design.
Troubleshooting
- No link in the invite: confirm the event type location is set to Microsoft Teams and the connected account is a work account.
- Guests stuck in the lobby: lobby rules come from your Teams meeting policy; adjust "Who can bypass the lobby" in Teams admin.
- Link missing after reconnect: reconnect Outlook in Calendars to refresh permissions.
